After a 15-year career in the rap and hip-hop industry, Kanye West has certainly made a name for himself.
The rapper has not only dominated the music industry with his ranking successes and his incredible production skills, but he has also shown the world that there is only one Kanye West.
Although he has had an extraordinary career so far, it has been reported that West is trying to leave the rap behind and focus exclusively on producing gospel music.
Given that this is very sudden and unexpected, are the fans taking this news lightly?
Reportedly, West is no longer playing secular music
In recent years, Kanye West has been a staple in the rap and hip-hop community for his top scorer achievements and his ability to create unique rhythms of their own.
Being one of the most critically acclaimed musicians of the 21st century and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, West has had a very successful career over the years and continues to reach new heights to date.
Although many people have learned to know and love the rapper for his hip-hop tracks, it seems that West might try to go in a different direction when it comes to his music.
It is reported that Ye is trying to leave rap and hip-hop behind for an exclusively gospel music career.
According to Andrew Barber of the Chicago hip-hop blog FakeShoreDrive, the rapper revealed the news during his second listening event for his ninth studio album, Jesus is king, in his hometown of Chicago.
Barber reported that West no longer plans to make secular music in the future. Instead, he will focus exclusively on producing gospel music and continuing his Sunday Service performances.
Although many of us may agree that Ye's dedication to his faith has probably played an important role in this decision, we certainly have not seen that this would have happened.
While this is very shocking for the most part, how did the fans react to this news?
Fans think this is just a phase
Not being able to listen to another Kanye West's rap or hip-hop track is certainly difficult for many of us to wrap our heads around.
We've associated rap music with West for so many years, so the rapper now known as a gospel artist will get used to it a little.
While some fans are saddened by the fact that West is about to give up rap music forever, others are not too sure if this is really happening.
Shortly after Barber shared West's news that he left rap on Twitter, fans started sharing their feelings about this unexpected announcement.
Many fans do not believe that Ye will give up rap music permanently and are certain that this phase will last only for a short period.
"It is difficult to believe completely in any announcement by Kanye. Even if it can be realized by Kanye herself" answered a fan to Barber's tweet.
The other fans are fine with the idea that the rapper strictly does gospel music, but they just want you to release an album already.
"I don't care if he does reggae just to publish the album" da * n ", another the fan wrote.
Neither West nor its representatives have commented on this report, but we can easily assume that this probably happens and we will see how the fans respond to his Jesus is king album once it finally falls.
